What is Biotec Fractional Laser Scar Revision?

Biotec Fractional Laser Scar Revision is an advanced resurfacing treatment that uses a fractional 2940 nm Er:YAG laser to improve the appearance of selected scars.

The laser creates precise microscopic treatment zones within the scarred skin while leaving areas of surrounding tissue intact to support healing.

This controlled resurfacing removes fractions of damaged surface tissue and stimulates the skin’s natural repair and collagen-remodelling response. As the area heals, the scar may gradually appear softer, smoother and less noticeable.

Good for?

Biotec Fractional Laser Scar Revision may help improve:

  • Atrophic or indented acne scars
  • Selected boxcar and rolling scars
  • Superficial surgical scars
  • Selected traumatic scars
  • Areas of thickened or irregular-looking tissue
  • Overall skin texture and smoothness

What happens during treatment?

On the treatment day, your skin is thoroughly cleansed and a topical anaesthetic is usually applied. Appropriate laser eye protection is provided throughout the procedure.

The fractional Er:YAG handpiece is passed systematically across the scar and, where appropriate, the surrounding skin. The laser creates controlled microscopic treatment zones at settings selected for the scar and treatment area.

Different depths and intensities may be used across the same scar to provide a moisturizing approach.

Following treatment, the area will appear red and may feel warm, swollen and similar to sunburn. Suitable post-treatment products are applied, and you will receive instructions regarding cleansing, moisturizing, sun protection and activities to avoid.

Additional information

Pain levelTopical anaesthetic is usually applied to improve comfort. Heat, stinging, prickling or brief sharp sensations may still be experienced.
Full recoveryInitial surface healing generally takes approximately 5–10 days. Deeper treatments or body areas may require up to 14 days or longer.
The treated area may become dry, rough, flaky or crusted before peeling. Residual pinkness or redness may remain after the skin’s surface has healed.
Sensitivity periodRedness, warmth, swelling, tightness and tenderness are most noticeable during the first few days.
Dryness, flaking, peeling or pinpoint crusting may continue for approximately one week or longer.
Results drivenThe scar may begin to appear smoother once the initial healing period is complete. Further improvement generally develops over the following weeks and months as collagen and tissue remodelling continue.
One treatment may produce visible improvement, although a course is commonly recommended for deeper or more extensive scars.
Results depend on the scar type, age, depth, location, skin type and individual healing response. Mature scars may respond differently from newer scars, and no treatment can guarantee complete removal.
