What is Biotec Italia Laser Fungal Nail Treatment?

Onychomycosis is a fungal nail infection that can cause nails to become discoloured, thickened, brittle or crumbly.

Biotec Italia Nd laser treatment delivers controlled light energy through the nail, producing heat within the treatment area. It may help improve the appearance of affected nails, although evidence for reliably clearing the infection is limited.

Treatment may be considered as part of a wider nail-care plan, alongside antifungal treatment where advised.

Not all nail changes are caused by fungus. A nail sample or assessment by a GP or podiatrist may be recommended before treatment.

Good for?

  • Confirmed fungal toenail infections
  • Discoloured, thickened or brittle nails associated with fungal infection
  • Clients seeking an additional option within a personalised treatment plan

What happens during treatment?

Your practitioner assesses your nails, discusses your medical history and checks your suitability for treatment.

Nails should be clean and free from nail polish or gel. Any necessary nail thinning or preparation will be discussed beforehand.

Protective eyewear is provided, and the laser handpiece is passed over the selected nails according to the treatment protocol. You may feel warmth or brief hot sensations.

Afterwards, you receive advice on nail care, foot hygiene and reducing the risk of reinfection.

Additional information

Pain Level
You may experience warmth, tingling or brief discomfort. Tell your practitioner immediately if the sensation becomes too hot or painful.
Full Recovery
Usually no recovery time is required. Most clients can return to their usual activities immediately, provided the area feels comfortable.
Sensitivity Period
Temporary warmth or tenderness may occur. Follow your practitioner’s aftercare advice and wear comfortable footwear if your toes feel sensitive.
Results Driven
Changes develop gradually as the nail grows. Toenails can take 12–18 months to fully grow out, so improvement is assessed over several months.
Results vary, and clearer-looking nail growth does not necessarily mean the fungal infection has cleared. Laser treatment cannot guarantee a cure, and antifungal medication or further assessment may be needed.
Potential Risks
Possible side effects include temporary redness, warmth, tenderness or swelling. Burns, blistering and damage to the nail or surrounding skin can occur.
A full consultation is essential, particularly if you have diabetes, poor circulation or reduced sensation in your feet.
