What is Dermalux LED Phototherapy for Acne and Oily Skin?

Dermalux LED Phototherapy is a comfortable, non-invasive treatment that uses clinically selected wavelengths of light to support the management of acne-prone, oily and inflamed skin.

Blue light at 415 nm targets light-sensitive compounds produced by acne-associated bacteria, helping to reduce the bacteria involved in inflammatory breakouts. Red light at 633 nm and near-infrared light at 830 nm may also be incorporated to calm inflammation and support the skin’s natural repair processes.

The wavelength or combination of wavelengths is selected according to the type of acne, degree of redness and overall skin condition.

Good for?

Dermalux LED Phototherapy may help improve:

  • Mild-to-moderate inflammatory breakouts
  • Acne-prone and blemish-prone skin
  • Red, inflamed or irritated spots
  • Oily skin as part of a wider treatment programme
  • Skin redness associated with active breakouts
  • Recovery following blemishes
  • The frequency and severity of breakouts
  • Acne affecting the face, chest, shoulders or back

What happens during treatment?

Your appointment begins with a consultation and skin

Your skin is thoroughly cleansed, and protective eyewear is provided. You will then relax beneath the Dermalux LED system while the selected wavelength or combination of wavelengths is delivered for the prescribed treatment time.

Blue light may be selected to target acne-associated bacteria, while red and near-infrared light may be incorporated to support calming and recovery. The programme will be personalised according to your skin rather than using the same light combination for every client.
